MANILA, Philippines — Veteran singer-actress Sharon Cuneta revealed that she recently underwent a spine procedure in Singapore after suffering from persistent pain affecting her hip and leg for nearly two years.

Cuneta shared the update with fans through a social media post, saying she had been considering whether to talk publicly about the health issue before ultimately deciding to open up about her experience.

According to the actress, the trip to Singapore was not for leisure but for medical treatment related to her spine. She had been under pain management for about two years due to pain affecting her right hip and leg.

“Hi. I know-it’s been a while. I was thinking if I should let you all know what I’ve been through…Well, I think, yes. You might’ve heard that I was in Singapore. I wish I went there to vlog, but acually, it was for medical reasons. My spine. Remember how I’d been under pain management for about two years for my right hip and leg? Well, I wish I could’ve gone to see my doctor in Singapore sooner. I had a procedure. And I do feel better, but I am still recovering,” she wrote on Instagram.

She said the procedure helped address the source of her pain, although she will need to return to Singapore for further treatment after tests revealed additional issues in her neck.

“I also need to go back there in a couple of months because all the tests revealed that I also have stuff in my neck I need fixed. C4&5, C5&6. Don’t stress about it. What’s important is that I am okay, the pain has been dealt with and we got to the root of the problem/s. Praise God,” she added.

Cuneta also apologized to fans and colleagues for missing the finals of the TV show “Your Face Sounds Familiar,” where she serves as a regular judge.

“I am so sorry to my YFSF family (and my Sharonians who went) for not being able to make it to the Finals. I tried. I missed, miss, and will greatly miss all of you,” she continued.

The actress expressed gratitude to the medical team that assisted her during the procedure, particularly staff at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre.

“Thank you to my great nurses in Singapore, especially my Filipino ones at Mt. Elizabeth Medical Center. And thank you most of all to my doctor, Dr. Prem Pillay for his expertise and kindness. God bless us all,” she ended.

Cuneta has served as a regular member of the jury on “Your Face Sounds Familiar.” At times when she is unable to attend the program due to prior commitments such as concerts or personal matters, guest judges including Klarisse de Guzman and Nyoy Volante have filled in for her on the panel.
