On October 22, Jungle Boss, a company specializing in cave exploration and tours in Vietnam, announced that while reviewing satellite imagery on Google Earth to look for geological signs potentially related to caves in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang area, Kevin Ditamore, a senior member of the National Cave Society (NSS), noticed an unusually large dark spot.

Following this discovery, Kevin contacted Jungle Boss and several American cave experts to organize drone surveys. Due to the initial images being unclear and the area having rugged terrain, the team had to conduct three surveys before determining the exact coordinates of the sinkhole.

The journey to reach the sinkhole.

After obtaining initial images, Jungle Boss reported to the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board ( Quang Tri province). Identifying the area to be surveyed as belonging to Cha Noi - Khe Gat, the expert team developed an access route based on the trails used by forest rangers for their monthly patrols.
