The newly launched 2026 Audi A6L is notable for being significantly longer than the standard version, bringing its overall dimensions to be comparable to the high-end A8.
Luxury car manufacturer Audi has just launched the new 2026 A6L, exclusively for the Chinese market, with dimensions approaching those of its larger sibling, the A8. This luxury sedan almost acts as a bridge between the mid-size and large-size car segments. Despite the added technology and larger size, the 2026 Audi A6L has a lower starting price than its predecessor.
The new Audi A6L uses the aggressive design language of the global A6 version, but the body proportions have changed significantly. Specifically, Audi has extended the body by 143 mm, bringing the total length to 5,142 mm. This increase is mainly aimed at improving rear seat space thanks to a wheelbase of 3,066 mm. This is 68 mm longer than the standard Audi A8 but still 62 mm shorter than the A8L.
The extended rear door is the clearest indication that this is not a regular Audi A6. Additionally, Audi has also adjusted some design details at the front of the car, such as the grille with a new pattern. The illuminated Audi logo in the grille is surrounded by a thin LED strip.
The metallic accents also extend into the headlight clusters, giving the front end a more refined look. Below, the air intakes on the front bumper are adorned with faux aluminum details, extending along the sides and surrounding the rear diffuser.
If equipped with the S-Line package and its dark exterior accents, this model's appearance will be more similar to the new Audi A6 for the US market. Additionally, it uses 21-inch alloy wheels with a unique design that Audi says is shaped to "reflect Eastern aesthetics."
Inside, the 2026 Audi A6L places a strong emphasis on comfort, especially in the rear seats. The interior features seats specifically developed for the Chinese market, optimized for long journeys. Above is a panoramic sunroof spanning 1.96 m², incorporating 112 RGB LED lights for customizable interior lighting effects at night. A 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system handles the in-car entertainment.
Following the trend in the Chinese market, screens occupy a large portion of the dashboard layout. In front of the driver is an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, combined with a 14.5-inch central touchscreen and a separate entertainment screen for the front passenger. Additionally, the car features a large head-up display (HUD) that projects information directly into the driver's field of vision.
In terms of safety, the new A6L is equipped with 33 sensors, including 2 LiDAR sensors, along with the Qiankun intelligent driving system developed by Huawei. In addition to 28 advanced driver assistance features (ADAS), this sedan also has 7+2 airbags, semi-recessed door handles with dual electromechanical protection, a force-absorbing hood, and front bumper stencils.
Like the standard A6, the 2026 Audi A6L also uses the PPC platform. The standard version uses a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine, combined with a mild hybrid system, delivering a maximum power of 201 horsepower, transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The more powerful version still uses this engine but has a maximum output of 268 horsepower, which can be combined with a 24-horsepower electric motor and quattro all-wheel drive. The top-of-the-line version uses a 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine with a maximum output of 362 horsepower, paired with a 24-horsepower electric motor and standard quattro all-wheel drive.
Additionally, the new 2026 Audi A6L long-wheelbase sedan offers an optional rear-wheel steering system that reduces the turning radius. The air suspension system can change the ride height by 30 mm.
In the Chinese market, the 2026 Audi A6L is priced between 323,000 and 436,000 Yuan (approximately 1.13-1.52 billion VND). Compared to the previous generation launched in 2018, the new model is 104,900 Yuan (367 million VND) cheaper. This price is also significantly lower than the A8L, which has a starting price of 789,800 Yuan (2.76 billion VND).
The lower price reflects increasingly fierce competition from Chinese brands, a factor that has contributed to declining sales for Audi in this massive market. Like its predecessor, the new A6L will be manufactured in China through the FAW-Audi joint venture. In the near future, the Audi A6L will be supplemented with a long-wheelbase wagon variant called the A7L.
